What Olfactory is
Olfactory is a fragrance diary. You keep three shelves, tried, collection and wishlist, score fragrances on a 10-point scale in half steps, log what you wore on a calendar, and read your Scent DNA: the accords and notes your taste is made of, computed from your scores and wears. From there the app shows fragrances that fit that taste and people whose taste overlaps with yours. It is not a shop and has no advertising.
Common questions
Is it free? Yes. Olfactory is in early access on iPhone; there is nothing to buy in the app.
Which devices? iPhone with iOS 15 or later. An Android version is planned.
How is Scent DNA computed? From the fragrances you scored and wore, weighted by your scores and how recently and often you wore them. It updates after every change; give it a few minutes for a fresh diary. It needs a handful of scored fragrances before it means anything.
Who sees my diary? By default your profile, shelves, collections and posts are public, in the app and at olfactory.app/@yourhandle. Close your diary in Settings and only followers you accept will see them. Who may see your wear calendar is a separate setting. Details are in the privacy policy.
A fragrance or brand is missing. The catalogue is young and grows on purpose rather than by scraping. Write to us with the brand and the exact name of the release and we will add it.
Something on a fragrance page is wrong. Tell us what and, if you know, where the correct information comes from. Notes that come from a brand and notes reported by other sources are shown separately on purpose.
Someone is misbehaving. Open the menu on their post, comment or profile and choose Report or Block. Reports reach us; blocked people cannot see you or reach you in the app.
Sharing. Every fragrance, profile, post and collection has a link and a QR code that opens the same page in the app or in a browser. Public pages show a bounded preview; a closed diary shows only the handle.
Delete your account
Settings → Delete account. It removes your account, your diary, your posts and comments, your pictures and your Scent DNA at once; there is no waiting period and no way back. If you cannot sign in, email us from the address you registered with and we will delete the account for you.
